Meet Dr. Glenn & Dr. Katzberg

Meet Dr. Glenn

Education

Upon completion of requirements of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Dentistry, Dr. Robert Glenn received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in 1974. At that same time, he was also inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honorary. After spending the following year in Boston, Massachusetts as a Senior Assistant Dental Surgeon with the United States Public Health Service, Dr. Glenn returned to Nebraska to pursue specialty training in orthodontics. Two years later, he received both a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Orthodontics degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Family

For pure enjoyment, at the top of Dr. Glenn’s list is spending time with his family, Bible teaching, landscaping, and cooking on his new Traeger grill.

Dr. Glenn has been married to his college sweetheart, Mary Ellen, since 1973. Their wedding present from Mary Ellen’s mother was the “Grey Goose”, the ’38 Chevy coupe that is parked right outside the office most every day. The Glenns are blessed with two sons, a daughter, two daughters-in-law, a son-in-law, and nine perfectly wonderful grandchildren.

“To be quite honest, I did not become an orthodontist as a result of a thoughtful, orderly decision making process. On the contrary, I just ended up in this profession, amazed that through little personal foresight, I find myself engaged in a career that I would not desire to trade with anyone.”

Meet Dr. Katzberg

Education

Dr. Katzberg spent a short time studying at Manhattan Christian College before returning to Lincoln, NE to study at Nebraska Wesleyan University. She graduated with Highest Distinction in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In dental school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Dr. Katzberg’s love for orthodontics grew. She completed four years of dental school, graduating with Distinction in 2010 with her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). She was then one of three residents accepted into the 2½ year orthodontic residency program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She graduated in December of 2012 with her Certificate of Orthodontics and a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Katzberg joined her father, Dr. Glenn, in practice in January of 2013.

Family

While in school at Nebraska Wesleyan, Dr. Katzberg met her husband Chad, a farm boy who grew up outside of Hastings, NE. They were married in 2009, and they have been blessed with five children, Clay, Eleanor, Selma, Levi and Greta. “Growing up, I never really considered practicing orthodontics as part of my future. I loved horses and children, and I dreamed about maybe being a teacher and living on an acreage with horses! In hindsight, there is not a profession that I would consider more rewarding or fulfilling than orthodontics. Restoring the function of the human dentition, creating beautiful smiles, and thereby changing lives is definitely part of my calling.”

What Sets Us Apart

Dental Hygiene

Even though oral hygiene problems are still the most common orthodontic related problems, it is uncommon for a dental hygienist to be on staff in an orthodontic office. At Genesis Orthodontics we have not one, but two dental hygienists on staff, one which has been a part of our team for over 30 years. Our Genesis Orthodontics registered dental hygienists help us to better serve our patients through prevention/interception of these common oral hygiene problems.

Personalized Service

From your initial consult to your last retainer check, we want you to be completely satisfied and assured that you have received excellent patient care. Dr. Glenn and/or Dr. Katzberg will review your records - photos and X-rays - to determine the best treatment plan for your individual needs, and one of the doctors will see you at every appointment.

Retention

The weak link in orthodontics is not the process of reaching that wonderful day when the braces come off. Rather, it is the failure to retain the benefits over extended time. There are many ways for traditional removable retainers to fail, and they fail all too frequently. We provide alternatives that greatly improve long term success. Adults should not have to repeat orthodontic treatment that was accomplished in the teen years.

Technology / In-house Lab

The large majority of our retainers, as well as other treatment devices, are made right here, on site. This is beneficial for our patients in that it provides greater appointment flexibility, faster appliance turn-around times, as well as greater quality control. Our digital scanner has replaced almost all traditional dental impressions and greatly improves patient comfort. The digital scanner combined with our in-house 3D printer allows us to reduce appointment times and make overall treatment time more efficient.

Longevity

Dr. Glenn has been practicing orthodontics in Lincoln since 1978. Throughout this time, he has also taught orthodontics in the Orthodontic Department of the College of Dentistry. Though he is hopeful that the orthodontic residents have received benefit from his presence, Dr. Glenn is confident that patient care at Genesis Orthodontics have benefitted from his long-standing association with the College of Dentistry.

Inclusion Of Parents

Orthodontics is a team thing, and parents are a very valuable part of that team. As such, rather than the traditional practice of asking parents to wait in the reception room, we encourage parents to routinely come into the clinic with their son or daughter. In fact, in each treatment room, there is a ‘mini’ reception room, purposely provided for parents/family.
